A Visit with Madam CJ Walker
A Visit with Madam CJ Walker
This program presents the life story of the pioneer entrepreneur, Madam CJ Walker. Joanna sings and re-enacts the character of Madam Walker while chronicling her triumphs during an era when black women were forced into subservient jobs without hope of decent wages. She helped thousands of women become economically self-sufficient by promoting her hair care products and at the same time helping them to lead a more rewarding lifestyle. This program helps to reinforce the value of believing in yourself and working hard to fulfill your dreams.

This 45 minute one-woman show is appropriate for Grades 3-12.
